November/2000 to January/2003 Pedro was working at the ESRIN centre (European
Space Research Institute) of the European Space Agency, on the EOP-A -
Earth Observation Applications Department, in the Luigi Fusco team.
Main task was to manage the PREMFIRE project, Prevention and Mitigation of Fire Hazard in Portugal, aiming at converging GIS and palmtops through wireless communication technology for forest fire fighting and management. to learn more > Also worked in the CLIFF project, Cluster Initiative for Flood and Fire Emergencies, in WP350 and WP450. Both workpackages relate with Earth Observation future missions applications in flood and fire emergencies. to learn more > The SOGHA (ESA/UNESCO Surveillance of Gorilla Habitat) was the first project of a series between the two agencies to use Space Technologies to monitor endangered world heritage sites. The project produced basic cartography, a GIS, a WebGIS, land use change and vegetation maps, and also established a remote sensing unit at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris. to learn more > What's ESA? to
